The Purchasing Department coordinates all procurement and contracting activities for the City of Bristol, provides support to other departments and to the community.
Purchasing manages the delivery of all supplies, equipment, and services, and is responsible for the management and reporting of City-owned assets.
The Purchasing Department strives to provide services in recognition of the following objectives:
1. To obtain the most cost-effective pricing.
2. To ensure consistent quality in products and services.
3. To ensure compliance with City, State and Federal guidelines.
4. To provide beneficial assistance and guidance to City departments.
5. To provide beneficial assistance and guidance to the general community.
The Purchasing Department is located on the Second Floor at Bristol City Hall. Normal office hours are 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.

The Purchasing Steering Committee, a committee of the Board of Finance, provides policy direction to the Purchasing Department. The committee members are as follows:

In an effort to manage long-term costs, a comprehensive energy efficiency study of City-owned buildings was recently completed, and accepted by the Building Committee and the City Council. The study is available for review via this link.
