SOLICITORS AND CANVASSERS LICENSE
A separate license application is required for each sales person.
Application should be filled out and signed in front of a notary at the Town Clerk's Office.
SOLICITOR OR CANVASSER is a person 18 years or over, whether a resident of Bristol or not, traveling from place to place, house to house, or street to street taking orders for future delivery or for services to be furnished in the future.
LICENSE REQUIREMENTS:
Applicant must provide a color photograph (2" x 2") taken within the past 60 days of head and shoulders.
Person must be fingerprinted and Chief of Police must approve.
A Certificate of Insurance submitted to and approved by the Comptroller’s Office.
EXEMPTIONS:
Sales to retail or wholesale establishments.
Person having a regular place of business within the City the past 12 months.
One who takes orders or sells for a person having a regular business in the past 12 months.
Farmers and gardeners selling produce from their Bristol farms.
Non-Profit organizations approved by the State.
Tag sales by residents of Bristol.
Items sold by veterans eligible for exemption under C.G.S. Sec. 21-30 and are residents of Connecticut.
FEES:
A $15.00 non refundable investigation fee must accompany each new application.
$10.00 per week; $40.00 per month; $75.00 per year - $37.50 after July 1.
Annual licenses expire December 31 each year.
