MARRIAGE LICENSE APPLICATION PROCESS

Procedimiento para licencia de matrimonio en español

Congratulations on your upcoming marriage!

You will need the following items before a marriage license can be issued to you:

1.    Marriage application.

      You may apply for the marriage license only in the the town where the ceremony takes place.

v     A copy of the blank marriage application is available on the Town Clerk's web site under FORMS & APPLICATIONS. The blank application is also available in the Town Clerk's Office.

v     The application must be provided to the Town Clerk's Office in order to obtain a marriage license.  You must also present the Office with a current photo identification - a driver's license, if you are a U.S. citizen and a passport or some other official government photo identification, if you are not a U.S. citizen.

v     Both the future bride and groom must appear in the Town Clerk's Office when applying for a marriage license, in order to take their oaths.  It is not necessary for both parties to appear at the same time, if their schedules do not permit it.

v     The fee for a marriage license is $30.00, payable at the time of application.  We do not accept credit cards or out-of-state checks as payment.

v     The marriage license is only valid for 65 days, from the date of the application to the date of the marriage.

v     You should provide the Town Clerk's Office with the name of the person performing the ceremony or the religious facility where it will be held.

v     The original marriage certificate must be signed and returned to the Town Clerk's Office where the marriage ceremony occurred by the person performing the ceremony.

2.         Marriage restrictions.

v     Applicants under 18 years of age, must have a consent form signed by their parent or guardian.  Please call us for further details.

v     If the applicants are under 16 years of age, the Bristol Judge of Probate must award consent for marriages performed in Bristol.  Please call us for further details.

Please note: The office is short staffed during the hours of 12:00 P.M. and 2:00 P.M. and closes at 5:00 P.M. The application process takes about ½ hour. Please plan your arrival accordingly.

PROCEDIMIENTO PARA LICENCIA DE MATRIMONIO

Felicitaciones en su matrimonio.

Ustedes necesitarán los siguientes documentos antes de otorgarles una licencia de matrimoni

1.  Solicitud de Matrimonio

Usted puede solicitar la licencia de matrimonio en el pueblo donde se llevará a cabo la ceremonia matrimonial.

v         El formulario para solicitar la licencia de matrimonio está disponible en la página de internet del Town Clerk. Este formulario también está disponible en la oficina del Town Clerk.

v        La solicitud tiene que ser presentada  en la oficina del Town Clerk para obtener una licencia de matrimonio.  Además, tiene que presentar una identificación con foto actualizada – la licencia de conducir si es un ciudadano de los Estados Unidos, su pasaporte o otro tipo de identificación oficial de gobierno si no es ciudadano de los Estados Unidos. 

v        Ambos la futura novia y novio tienen que presentarse en persona en la oficina del Town Clerk cuando estén solicitando la licencia de matrimonio para tomar su juramento.  No es necesario que ambos se presenten al mismo tiempo si sus itinerarios no lo permiten.

v        El costo para solicitar la licencia de matrimonio es de $30.00, los cuales tienen que ser pagados al momento de la solicitud.  No aceptamos tarjetas de crédito o cheques personales que sean fuera del estado como pago.

v        La licencia de matrimonio es sólamente válida por 65 días, desde el día que es solicitada  hasta el día del matrimonio.

v        Usted debe proveer a la oficina del Town Clerk con el nombre de la persona que llevará a cabo la ceremonia  o el lugar dónde se llevará a cabo la misma.

v        El certificado de matrimonio original tiene que ser firmado y devuelto a la oficina del Town Clerk donde el matrimonio ocurrió por la persona que dirigió la ceremonia. 

        2.  Restricciones Matrimoniales

v        Solicitantes menores de 18 años tienen que proveer un consentimiento firmado de sus padres o guardián legal.  Por favor llámenos para más información detallada al respecto.

v        Si los solicitantes son menores de 16 años, el Juez de Bristol Probate Court tiene que otorgar consentimiento para que el matrimonio sea llevado a cabo en Bristol.  Por favor llámenos para mas información detallada al respecto.
