DUI Enforcement
The Bristol Police Department has a very aggressive DUI enforcement program in place. The department recently received a $138,000 federal grant to continue our roving patrols and checkpoints for intoxicated operators throughout the holiday season.
FACTS:
- In 2009, there was 1,962 accidents, with 60 DUI arrests. There were 2 fatal accidents and both were DUI related.
- In 2008, there were 2,043 accidents with 82 DUI arrests. There were 5 fatal accidents and 2 were DUI related.
- In 2007, there were 2,238 motor vehicle accidents with 80 DUI arrests. There were 6 fatal accidents and 1 was alcohol related.
- The department is committed to removing intoxicated operators from the road. Bristol will be a safer community and the number of accidents and injuries will be reduced.
| During the Spring of 2007, two underaged & drunk drivers in separate vehicles struck each other headon while on Terryville Avenue in the area of Clark Avenue. While both survived, one served jail time for crossing over the double yellow line and causing the crash. |
