Present:
Chairman Helen Lobaczewski, Vice Chairman Teresa Barton, Commissioners Dino Bossi, Lois Grey, John Hartman, Pat Malone, Janet Pickarski, Council Liaison Kevin M. Fuller, Executive Director Peggy Sokol and Secretary Darlene Coffey.

Meeting Called to order:
Chairman Helen Lobaczewski called the meeting to order at 3:33 p.m.
Approval of Minutes:
A motion to accept the minutes of the February 17, 2011 Regular meeting, so moved by Commissioner Terry Barton and seconded by Commissioner Janet Pickarski. All in favor.
Public Participation:
Carol Kallberg, 29 Richard Ct., Bristol; Pearl Kowalczyk, 77 Lewis St., Bristol; Charlene Castle, 78 Rockwell Ave;, Bristol; Juanice Raymond, 247 Jerome Ave., Burlington, 06013 and Bill and Gerry Magyar of 118 Treble Rd., Bristol were attending to observe.
Correspondence:
Secretary Darlene Coffey read the notifications from City Clerk dated March 9, 2011 “At a meeting of the City Council on March 8, 2011 Commissioners Pat Malone, Dino Bossi and Lois Grey were reappointed for a term to March 2014.” Chairman Helen Lobaczewski congratulated them on their reappointments and thanked them for staying with the Commission on Aging. A copy of the General Assembly Committee Bill No. 139 from the January Session, 2011 – LCO no. 3402 “AN ACT CONCERNING PERSONS RESIDING IN ELDERLY HOUSING AND MEMBERS OF SENIOR CENTERS” was provided to each commissioner. Director Peggy Sokol asked that each Commissioner read it and discuss it at the next meeting.
Director Peggy Sokol read correspondence she sent to the Mayor & Council and Public Works Maintenance, as we had a Health Inspection on March 15th and were cited for not having hot water in our lunch kitchen area and also in the Day Care area Fuller also stated that actions have been taken and they may be moving forward with some of the repairs.
Committee Reports : Director Peggy Sokol stated that she would like to resume the meeting of the Policies & Procedures Committee to update outdated policies. The first meeting was called for Friday, April 1st at 10:00 a.m.

New Business:
Commissioner Dino Bossi asked if we could talk to someone at City Hall to expedite filling the empty positions at the Senior Center so that we can continue to function effectively. Chairman Helen Lobaczewski informed all present that the Commission on Aging meeting are open to the public monthly and members are all welcome to come in and express their concerns at these meetings. Vice Chairman Terry Barton suggested holding an “Open Meeting” at 1:30 to invite the membership which may not be able to get transportation later in the day to discuss their suggestions, concerns, ideas
Commissioner Terry Barton made a motion “to hold an “Open Meeting Session” of the Commission on Aging on Wednesday, April 13th at 1:30 p.m. in the Main Dining Room for Seniors to express their concerns, suggestions, recommendations, complaints and to offer ideas to improve the Senior Center.”
Any other business:
Director Peggy Sokol reported the Mother’s Day Dinner will be Friday, May 6th at 4:00 p.m. in the Dining room at $11.00 per ticket for a Roast Beef dinner and the Volunteer Appreciation Dinner will be June 10th at Nuchies at 4:00 p.m. on June 10th. She also wanted to inform the Commission that the new publishing company was to meet with her on Monday, March 21st at 11:00 in her office to discuss their taking over the newsletter and hoped they could be present. She also reported that on April 9th from 10:00 to 3:00 p.m. the C.E.R.T. members (Community Emergency Response Team) will have a fair at the American Legion and the Senior Center will have a booth with an emergency kit as a giveaway.
Director Sokol reported the following statistics: During the month of February, there were 3,329 participants, at the Senior Center. Membership is 5,995, with 18 members reported as deceased, and 17 new members signed up in February.
Chairman Helen Lobaczewski thanked the ladies for showing interest in their Senior Center and offering their suggestions.
