Bristol Youth Services is a community-based social service agency caring for the well-being of the City's youth. Its role is to advocate for resources and provide services aimed at strengthening the healthy functioning of families. Professional staff work with families by providing service needs assessments, referrals, and counseling for uninsured or underinsured families. Youth are served through a variety of specialized group programs in addition to case management, outreach support and crisis intervention services. Emphasis is placed on services to aid in ameliorating conditions leading to abuse, neglect, truancy, running away, behavior beyond parent control and delinquency of young people. Another primary function of the Youth Services Department is to centrally coordinate, plan and advocate for community development of resources to address the needs of children and their families. Bristol Youth Services also manages and conducts experiential and adventure based programs for organized groups both on the Pine Lake Challenge Course or at community or school-based locations.
Staff: Five full time employees: Director, Youth Advocate, Outreach Support Worker, Family Social Worker and Administrative Assistant. The Department is also staffed by part-time contractors and interns providing family therapy and social group work services. The City of Bristol also employs seasonal staff for the Pine Lake Challenge Course and adventure based programming, as well as staff for specialized grant projects.
