VOTING IN NOVEMBER 2020 ELECTION

Bristol voters have two options for voting in the upcoming November, 2020 election.  They may vote in person at their designated polling place or vote by absentee ballot.  All of the polling place locations will be open from 6:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 3.  Any voter choosing to vote in their polling place can rest assured the polling places will be cleaned and sanitized and comply with social distancing protocols.

If a Bristol voter prefers to vote by mail, it is a two-step process.  The first step is to complete an absentee ballot application.  Applications were sent by the Secretary of State to all active voters the week of September 14.  You should return that application to the Town Clerk’s office as soon as possible.

Before returning the application, read the instructions carefully and fill out the application fully.  Your application must have your name and address, the election date, the reason for a ballot checked off, your signature, and the date.  If anyone assisted you in filling out the application, they must also sign and date the application. The applications include postage paid envelopes to return the applications to the Bristol Town Clerk’s office.  The absentee applications can also be placed in the ballot drop boxes conveniently located outside each of the entrances to City Hall or a drive-up box behind City Hall.  There is no need to enter City Hall to drop off your absentee ballot application.

Once your absentee ballot application is received, an absentee ballot will be issued to you.  The earliest date the absentee ballots are available is October 2.  Please read the ballot instructions carefully.  Enter your vote on the ballot using a pen.  Insert the ballot into the inner envelope, seal it, and sign and date it.  Enclose the signed envelope that contains the ballot into the outer serial numbered envelope and seal it.  Just like the applications, the ballots can be returned by mail or placed in the ballot drop boxes conveniently located outside each of the entrances to City Hall or a drive-up box behind City Hall. There is no need to enter City Hall to drop off your absentee ballot.  All ballots must be received no later than 8:00 p.m. on Election Day, Tuesday, November 3.

Due to the unprecedented demand for ballots, beginning October 1 until November 4, the Town Clerk’s office will only be open to the public from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
