Louisiana Avenue Closed June 11, 2020 through November 2021 for Construction

The City of Bristol announces the start of the Louisiana Avenue Bridge Project, which includes the removal and replacement of the Louisiana Avenue Bridge.

Construction activities began Tuesday, June 9. The project is scheduled to be completed by November of 2020.  However, a project extension to May of 2021 is a possibility due to environmental scheduling constraints, and complications due to the current health crisis. Accordingly, a winter shutdown period would extend from January through March of 2021.

“Detours are being put in place during the Louisiana Avenue Bridge replacement. Road closures will begin the 11th of June, 2020,” stated Councilwoman Mary Fortier who represents the District and serves on the Public Works Board. “Your cooperation in avoiding the area during the duration of the project is appreciated.”

“Construction for the project was awarded to Schultz Corporation, LLC for the sum of $2,420,988.25, and inspection services will be provided by BL Companies,” stated Public Works Director Ray Rogozinski.  “Funding for the project is being provided through the Federal/Local Bridge Program via 80% Federal and 20% Municipality share contributions through a progressive reimbursement process to the City.”

Questions and/or comments regarding the project may be directed to Nancy Levesque, P.E., City Engineer at 860-584-6125 (nancylevesque@bristolct.gov), or Adam Dawidowiz, BL Companies, at 860-760-1910 (adawidowiz@BLcompanies.com).
